Summer Camp 2008:
This year we are going back to Auchoyle Farm in Argyll, forty years since the Company started camping there. If your son is interested in a week of fun and adventure under canvas, then please fill in the tear-off strip below. This year’s Camp will be from Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th July, costing around £140 inclusive of transport, food and all activities. Activities include; hill walking, golf, fishing, mountain biking, x-country run, swimming, survival night, table tennis, cricket, trips to Dunoon & Tarbert. The list is endless!
We run a traditional BB ‘holiday’ camp. Boys & Officers camp in roomy green canvas patrol tents, with three meals a day provided in a marquee. Duties are shared so that everyone gets a chance to enjoy their holiday. We have been camping in the same field for approx. 35 out of the past 40 years and know the local area and people very well. The campsite is located on the Cowal Peninsula, lying between Loch Fyne and the Firth of Clyde.

40th Anniversary Camp:
To celebrate 40 years since our first camp at Auchoyle, we are planning a number of special events, which we would like you and your families to join in with. This year’s camp will be extended to include a second weekend. On the Saturday we intend to have our annual football match against local opposition on the Shinty pitch, maybe with an ‘old boys’ challenge match as well. In the afternoon, we will be having an open day for the local community in the Field with Highland Games and BBQ. On the Saturday night we hope to have a Ceilidh in aid of the local RNLI station, to which all ex-members, families and local friends will be invited. On the Sunday, we will parade to Kyles Parish Church before the Camp disperses and we return home for another year.
Sponsored bike event. The boys compete in the events to raise funds for the Company
Battallion Competitions:
The company section recently took part in the following battalion competitions:
i) Four of our recruits took part in the drill competition on 2nd February coming 4th place.
ii) Also 20 members took part in the drill down competition last Friday at Meadowside St Paul's church being beaten by the 2nd Forfar Coy whose members won the top four places, fifth place went to our own Pte J Dye.
iii) Three members travelled to Glasgow Battalion to complete their leadership course on Sunday 11 February counting towards their Queen's badge.

Company Section
Section strength currently stands at 25 boys, with our junior recruits integrating well to the Section. A relative factor here is the Brigade rules which allow 3rd year juniors to attend annual summer camp with the bigger boys. I can vouch for usefulness of the system having attended my first camp as a junior in the early sixties. A number of formal classes were offered, allowing boys to progress through the badge award system towards the Queen's badge (the highest award in the BB). It is always a great pleasure when a boy gains these higher awards and this year we have one president’s badge winner and three new Queen’s Men. The classes offered this session included Drill, Christian Faith, Physical Recreation, Model Making, First Aid, Expeditions, Drumming, Piping and Bugling.
Guy Fawkes weekend saw us back at Scott Lodge. Our seniors and older boys under the leadership of Iain Harper reached the top of the munro, Broad Cairn having failed in bad weather in 2005. The rest of the party walked over the Kilbo path reaching the top in misty very cool conditions.
Sports Day for all Sections held at Orchar Park.
